I think the RTA idea is elilcpaesy important for rural areas, and improving rural transportation options would help more than the environment. Much of what I read about alternatives to driving a car refers to options only available to urbanites or the physically able. I work for an organization that coordinates long-term care services for the elderly and adults with disabilities, in eight largely rural southwest Wisconsin counties. One of our biggest challenges is helping our members find transportation—to work, to shop, to community activities, to medical appointments. Granted there is much that can be done to restore neighborliness and community connections where people help each other in this respect. But regular transportation options like a bus or van network would be a big help. A decade ago I lived in rural Latvia for two years without a car, and most of the locals I knew did not have cars either. But the extensive bus system made travel quite easy, and you could go pretty much anywhere for a reasonable cost. I have memories of the bus stopping in what seemed like the middle of nowhere to let people off. Sometimes there would be a crossroads, sometimes just a path in the forest that the person would head to after exiting the bus. Since my family’s choice is to create a rural homestead where we can develop skills and permaculture plantings and contribute to the future of the local food supply, rural transportation is a personal issue for us as well. It’s one thing to think about taking produce to town on the back of a bike cart, or learning to work with horses, and it may come to that. But I think the reality would be pretty difficult, and I hope we can come up with some community transit options that serve the rural area as a whole.

First off, great article prvnidiog relatively accurately the two sides of this issue.As an actor currently, I can not help but support these bills, as they are helping ensure my future income and livelihood, but as a person, I don't agree with the wording of these bills. They are handing the government too much power to censor information. Piracy and Content Theft are very bad things, but so is censorship. I don't agree that these bills would restrict innovation. These bills have the right purpose in mind, but they go about it in the wrong way.

I think of plagiarism the same way I think about a psibosly cheating partner: if I don't actually notice it going on in a specific instance, then it's not going on (even if it is). So that is my comment about the region, and it seems to not be very important in your explanation of this book. It is for this reason probably most that I disliked your tirade against a book about West Texas, Art, and Women. It seems like the region isn't important to you. You could've easily talked about how diverse the region is and some emerging West Texas artists that you think are important...as opposed to reaming the authors you could've talked about art.You spent a lot of time waxing poetic about how awful these writers were in your mind, instead of just reading another book that you could argue critically. Would it have killed you to put another picture of at least one of any one of the artists you mention so we can get an idea of what field of art the book focuses on, why the region is important to what they are writing about, etc? :)I got my dad to start using Ubuntu; it wasn't too hard or anthying, considering he learns through experience. So, he knows how to open up Firefox to browse the net and watch his youTube stuff, open IE4LInux to browse the sites he needs for work (which only work with IE, sadly), open GAIM to chat with his friends and family on MSN and best of all, download things. Somewhat irrelevant, but with the use of Ubuntu, his HD space is decreased; he isn't downloading so much crap anymore (MP3s). My friend at school, who is a Mac dev., installed Ubuntu 6.10 onto his laptop (dual boot with XP, since we HAVE TO HAVE XP omfg) and loves it. He loves playing with Beryl. He loves how 6.10 just worked (with extremely minimal tweaking). Most of all, he just LOVES using Ubuntu he can get his code on like mad lyve styll.Incredibly irrelevant: I was looking through my gr12 physics notes yesterday cause I was looking for something in particular and I still have one of your tests.
